Why It Started
People often ask me why I started WellFin360.
It’s not because I spent more than 25 years in financial services. It’s because of the life I lived beforehand.
Where it started
My parents divorced when I was young. My father raised me while my mother immigrated to the United States, working to build a future for our family. We lived apart for years while she laid that foundation. Eventually, I joined her and began a new life in a new country.
Watching my parents make those sacrifices taught me an important lesson: building a better future takes effort, care, and persistence.
I took that lesson seriously. At 17, I worked while attending school, earned scholarships, and saved every dollar I could. At 19, I opened my first credit card and managed it carefully to build good credit. At 20, after saving diligently, I bought my first car.
When I began my career, those habits stayed with me. I worked hard, lived within my means, and saved consistently for six years. Those savings helped pay for my wedding and laid the foundation for the life my husband and I wanted to build together.
What I thought I knew
I didn’t have a comprehensive plan. I didn’t understand how cash flow, taxes, growing my money, insurance, and long-term planning were supposed to work together, not as separate boxes to check, but as one system supporting the life I actually wanted.
Then life tested me.
The lesson I didn’t choose
Suddenly, I became my mother’s caregiver. When she passed away, I learned firsthand what happens when life forces the lesson on you instead of letting you learn it on your own time. Despite years of responsible habits, I wasn’t fully prepared for what followed. Unexpected costs pushed me into debt I could have reduced or avoided altogether with a real plan in place.
That experience changed how I saw everything. Working hard and saving money are essential. But they aren’t enough on their own. A plan isn’t just about the numbers or building a bigger balance. It’s a roadmap that helps you make sound decisions and prepares you for what you can’t predict.
